Dr. Jeilan is the Chief and Director of Cardiac Services at Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi. Over the last 10 years, he and his team have pioneered the development of Interventional cardiology in the region with introductions of new techniques and treatments performed through minimally invasive procedures. These include intravascular ultrasound 2012, renal denervation 2013, rotational atherectomy 2013, and transcatheter aortic valve implantation 2015. As a device and interventional proctor, he has helped develop the skills of experienced cardiologists in newer techniques within Nairobi and across Africa.

He is the current chairman of the Panafrican Association of Coronary and Structural Intervention (PASCI). His biggest passion is capacity building, in particular to improve access to heart attack management across Africa, and he has worked within organizations like the Kenya Cardiac Society currently as the General Secretary) to advocate for better treatments of heart disease for Kenyans.
